CD Burning Question

why does it take ages to "Prepare files" when burning a (music) cd?
why not commence burning straight away like other programs?

Other progs might be preparing the files (converting to wav format) on an as-needed basis, where MC won't commence burning until all the files have been prepped. There's probably more to it then this but you get the general idea. The mp3 format is probably the slowest to decode (certainly is to encode...using LAME).

If you have the "burn-proof" feature on your CD burner, you can enable the "decode direct" option in CD writer settings. Then there will be no "preparing" stage to the burn.
