CDDB interface
« on: January 16, 2004, 02:26:20 pm »

I get an error message "couldn't get CDDB interface" when  I put a CD into the drive. I note some reference here to YADB but don't see how to access it. I have MJ Plus 7.2.280.  How can I get the titles?

You need to pick up version 8 (8.0.400 is latest build...see top thread subject or two). A v7 license will work with v8...older than that will not. Make sure to back up your license and library (copy the backups to a safe directory). I would NOT install v8 over v7. Uninstalling v7 first is the best way to go (most troublefree way but you will loose your playlists). After v8 is installed, restore your license and library. You will then have access to YaDB.

7.1.280 was the last version of version 7, and is no longer supported

OK - i see how to back up the library but not the license. In fact I can't even find the license. Also, should I copy the entire jriver  directory (where all this resides) to a backup directory?

MJ8 and above does not have a place to save a license since the license it activated by the website now.

MC...

Is there a Backup License option under the MJ>Help>... menu? What your really after is a file called MediaJukebox7.rrg which is also what using the backup option creates. It usually resides directly under the main Media Jukebox directory.

The important library files are those whose extensions end in jmd (located in the Media Jukebox>Data directory). It wouldn't hurt to copy the whole thing until you know your v8 installation is good.
