Import Custom Fields???
« on: January 27, 2004, 03:47:23 pm »

On my home system I have added many custom tags and I have them saved in the files. I burn a CD and take it to my work machine. Is there a way to get those custom fields imported to the new machine/Library??

I tried to recreate the fields in the new library, but they don't seem to match. I tried to update fields from tags, but that doesn't add the new fields.

Am I missing something?  Once I have done all the work to tag files and backup to CDs, I'd hate to lose all the info if I someday lose my computer..

If you name the fields the same, MC will pick them up on an "Update From Tags."

We don't create new fields from the tags, because there are too many properties associated with fields that we wouldn't know about.

My workround for this was to creat a blank library with all my custom fields. After installing MC import this library and then import media. All custom info should appear in you other installation.
Hope this helps.

Matt

Naming the fields the same does work... I had made the Name and the Display Name different and had forgotten.... Once I used the correct name, no problem....

Thanks

This doesn't work for me.  I have 2 TXXX custom fields titled 'STYLES' and 'TONES'.  I have added these to the library and updated.  Nothing shows up in the new columns.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
