Copy MC9 Install - What Went Wrong
« on: February 05, 2004, 03:06:33 am »

To make a copy of my MC9 installation to another PC I did the following:

- Backup the library
- Copy the entire '/Program files/J River' folder
- Copy the entire '/Music' folder
- Install MC 9.1.316 w/license
- Restore the library

It's a mirrored installation - all the drive letters and folder locations are the same.  In the origin installation there were no missing images.  However, in the new one many albums show no cover art.  Yet, if you look for the image files in the '/Cover art' folder it's there.  Furthermore, if you look at the 'Task - no image' it's empty.

What did I do wrong?

Maybe the MC backup/restore process is not working as it should for cover art.

If the file paths, directory locations and drive letters are exactly the same you could just paste files and folders from your backup of the entire /Program files/J River folder on top of the new MC installation. Skip the restore library part.

That worked for me when I upgraded my HD.
