So, what now??
« on: February 06, 2004, 06:30:59 pm »

Greetings:

Bought Media Jukebox 8 (back in Set or Oct 03).  Loaded the trial of MediaCenter 9, it expired, so I figured I would get back to v8 so that I could buy an upgrade to v10.
I uninstalled v9, tried to reload v8 (have the installation key although I dont know where to use it). Upon starting v8, it gives me the following message:
"You are attempting to open a database that is too new for this version of Media Jukebox. Please upgrade to the newest version of Media Jukebox." What to do now?
There is a zipped file on my hard drive called  MJ Library backup, containing 3 files: mediafiles.jmd, playlistx.jmd, and removable.jmd.... I am thinking it was created when I installled the trial of v9...
Would like to know what I have to do, and how I should do it.  And, pleezzze dont point me to the files regarding licensing and restoring...I must be a dufus, but I've read them over, and they dont seem to make anything clearer to me..
Thanks for your patience...

the files within the zip are your library files.

if you unzip them to \Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\Data

it might work.

or delete the library files in

\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\Data

and just re-import the media files.

Didnt work.  The program shows the splash screen and the aforementioned message.
There are no library files in\program files\mediajukebox\data\

did you put them there from the backup?

maybe you should look if you have a "J river\ media center\data" folder

if the library is in there mj8 may be reading that, and if so did you uninstall MJ9?

if you did this folder should be gone.

you chould just uninstall both, and make sure the media jukebox and the media center folder is gone. if you do then you should not get this message

Getting rid of the folders did the trick.  I was able to reload the program, AND it came back up with my registration info intact as well, according to the info displayed in the help\registration info screen.
Now, all I need to do from here is figure out how to upgrade to v10...

thanks, King
