I am supposed to edit XML's manually ?  - is there some tool that helps creating new/editing skins ?

Doof had something going on a the skin creation front, but nothing released I think. Take a look at his (her?) posts. Other than that you are on your own - except for the community here of course.

Excuse me for hijacking the thread, but the topic suited so nicely  :)

Where could I find some doc about the valid xml-tags in a skinfile?

no idea. I am still amazed that I was actually expected to do it manually...
(whan I started this thread I were almost sure that the tool was hidden somewhere or I were temorary blind when seeking for it...)

Well, at least I found a reply to my question - just check out the "MC Dev Zone", that has all the info. But it seems as if we really have to edit the XML...
