Quicktime problems in MC
« on: March 16, 2004, 04:47:26 pm »

im trying to play some quicktime movies and the video doesnt work (audio component is fine though). These files used to play fine but no longer (either ive missed /changed something or its to do with the latest beta).

i keep getting the message "QuickTime is missing software required to perform this operation. Unfortunately, it is not available on the QuickTime server"

Im using MC 10.0.92 and QT 6.5

any ideas?

thanks

Could be a bug in 92...I'd force a re-install of QT (right over top of current)

Did you check in "Playing Now"?

yes - it just shows a static image of whatever was in that space before (similar to when windows locks)

Check the tag "Media Type". Many mov files get mistakenly imported as Audio files. You just need to change those to the media type "Video". It seems that this might be a bug and has been mentioned here a few times.

its not a MC problem. the problem files are all Quicktime divX files. i do have divX, but maybe not for quicktime (?). Anyway they wont play at all in QT, so its nothing to do with MC, which just uses that apple plugin...

thanks for people's advice though
