playback skips
« on: March 27, 2004, 05:56:20 pm »

I used the move function to transfer 20gb of video files from one drive to another within media center 9.1.319.  It took about 3 hours.  Then I realized on playback the videos skip! It is like bits of the files were lost when moved.  Any ideas, please??

3 hours for 20gb sounds like too long to me, so it's possible the new drive is too slow to play videos from.

Make sure Windows has the drive running in DMA mode instead of PIO mode, because this could cause that.

Matt, Thank You. In Device Manager, for the primary IDE channel, Device 0 is in ultra dma mode 2, BUT, in Device 1, it is set at dma if available, but it is in PIO mode.  How do I change this??

You could have a cabling / jumper problem.  Double-check everything.

Also, check BIOS settings.

Google may be able to help as well.
