9.1 to 10.0 Upgrade questions
« on: April 12, 2004, 01:12:46 pm »

Okay, so I've been gone for awhile, and look what happens.  You guys finish up the 10.0 version and I missed out on upgrading the very first day.

So how do I do it?  The FAQ seems to be a bit old, referencing only 9.1 upgrades, so I have a few quesitons.

1. Can I do the upgrade from within 9.1 or do I have to install the 10.0 demo and purchase it from there?

2. If I have to install the 10.0 demo first, do I need to de-install 9.1?

3. If I don't have to de-install now, will de-installing 9.1 later muck up the 10.0 installation or licensing?

4. How do I get the 9.1 upgrade price if I have to purchase 10.0 from within the 10.0 demo?

5.  Does the 10.0 license still allow use on my home and work machines?

6. I never used 9.1 on both my home and work machines before, but I would like to when I get 10.0.  How do I do that and what hassles if any would that cause?

Thanks for continuing the upgrade and support the best media program out there.

you can only have one instance of MC

if you have mc9 installed installing MC10 will overwrite MC9

if you install MC10 to another folder, the latest install will work, the other will not.

That's where I went, and the FAQ under the MC 10.0 link says:

"IMPORTANT: This FAQ applies only to Media Center 9"

I know it's probably me,  and my misunderstanding but, the questions answered there don't really seem to answer the questions I posed.

Everyone else probably already understands all of this, but anything you could do to answer my specific questions would be greatly appreciated, at least by me.

Thanks,

I'm sure this will all be very obvious once I install the 10.0 demo and go to do the purchase.  I was just trying to get some understanding ahead of time.
