Corrupt Library
« on: June 22, 2004, 12:52:29 am »

Hi all!

I am Dj and have to work this friday. I am using MediaCenter to go through my files and to make playlists for certain situation. Yesterday I was sitting in the car with my laptop doing that again.

Unfortunately the power suddenly went off due to low battery.

Since then, whenever I am trying to oben MediaCenter, it tells me that the library is corrupt.

However, I urgently need my playlists on Friday!!!

I already tried to open a new library and change the places of the two playlist.jmd. That didn't work.

Whoever has the possibility to repair my library, PLEASE HELP!!

You can find the Library under:

>> klick on "MediaCenter starten"

>> klick on Library.zip

Your mediafiles.jmd is all scrambled.

I think your only hope is that maybe you have a library backup somewhere.

Hi Matt,

How about adding a feature that it automatically backs up your Library every xx days?
I never remember to back up my Library and think that this may be a good addition...

Media Center 11 makes a backup during library import / update.

We may allow automatic scheduling of that new tool.

Is there no way to repair it?? Maybe doing some work in the code???

I don't care about the mediafiles.. I only need my playlists..

Playlists are stored in playlistx.jmd (same dir as mediafiles.jmd)

If the main library is mangled..chances are its the same with that file too

well... like I said. I already tried to create a new library and than switch the new createt plalistsx.jmd with the one of my old library.

Doing this, MediaCenter is even starting up properly and I can even see the playlists in my playlist folder. However, there are now songs in the playlists.

Sorry labambo, but I think you'll have to start over if you don't have a backup.

Your mediafiles database looks like random junk.  Maybe a data recovery tool could help.

To everyone else: make a backup once in a while so this can't happen.

Are you running XP?  Would a system restore work?  Some file types (e.g. documents) are not covered by system restore but there's a good chance that .jmd will be backed up.

WinME has this feature too, I think.
