Remote-Wonder: mapping keyboard characters
« on: June 27, 2004, 07:45:26 pm »

Please help, I have searched and searched but can
some give me any easier way to map the numeric
keys to represent letters on the keyboard.
Apparently girder will let you do this but do I really need girder?
Is there not an ATI remote wonder plugin out there
that will let me program say the number 1 key to be the G, H and I keys simply by pressing the key multiple times?

thanks
jmtuser.

Go to http://membres.lycos.fr/remotew/ and look for the Remote Wonder Key Factory plugin.  That will let you map any keyboard key (or combo) to almost any Remote Wonder button.  However, it will not support multiple button pushes in the way you want.  I'm curious to know why you want that level of control with a remote anyway?  Seems awfully cumbersome.  Have you thought about a wireless keyboard with sufficient range (bluetooth, I think)?

I have used the keyfactory plugin, but its limited.
I just wanted a quick way to allow a few charcaters to be typed to do mp3 search functions withing media center.
seems a bit overkill to have a keyboard in those situations.

thanks for the response.
