Smartlist for Artists in more than one Genre?
« on: July 13, 2004, 11:07:07 pm »

Anyone out there have a smartlist that can return all the artists that have more than one genre associated with them?  For example, return Metallica if they have tracks in Heavy Metal, Rock, and Alternative.

I tried to use the limit= keyword, but I couldn't make it work.

Thanks all

This is because you want to correct the genre right?

I think you might be able to do it with the Dup modifier using [artist],[genre] as the rule.  This will mean that the artist is only listed once if the genre is the same throughout.  Drag the results into a playlist and check to see which artists are listed twice.

Sorry, that's the best I can offer but it's a start.

Thanks JLee.  Yes, I do want to correct some genre listings.  The dup modifier huh?  Good idea.  I'll see what I can come up with tonight.

Okay, I spent some time using the dup keyword, but the results were less than desirable.  I used "dup=artist, genre" (and other variations) and the list that came back didn't seem to make much sense.  It returned artists that did not have multiple genres and some that did.

It was a valiant effort JLee, but not exactly what I was hoping for.

Anyone have any better ideas?

I thought of using a view scheme with genre, artist, but this still requires a lot of manual checking.
