How can I see file properties in Windows Explorer ?
« on: August 06, 2004, 10:03:29 am »

Using Windows XP, I noticed that I can't see the file properties in Explorer.
I have for instance a number of video files, among which avi and mpg files.
When I open the folder where they are saved, I only see "Media Center Files" and not what kind of files (e.g. avi or mpg) they are. Also when I click on Properties, I see only "Media Center Files".
Has this something to do with MC ?
(Of course I can see the properties when I look in the Library, but that's not what I mean)

It sounds like the file extensions are hidden.  I'm not on XP so I'm not exactly sure how it works there, but in Win2k you open a Windows Explorer and in the Tools menu, choose Folder Options.  The Folder Options window will appear.  Click the View tab and uncheck the box for "Hide file extensions for known file types".

Like I said, it could be different in XP...
