How many music files do you have in your library?
« on: January 09, 2005, 03:16:22 pm »

I wonder if there is a maximum of files supported by MC. I currently have 20,000 songs.

Well, I currently (and temporarily) have 71,090 "files" (audio+video+images) being managed by MC 11 (v.11.0.168), and it seems to do okay now.  It's a little sluggish in some spots, but that is to be expected.  (The technology does not exist yet on the consumer market to sift through and sort gigabytes worth of data in a blink of an eye yet. ;))

I have 27k of VBR Hi mp3s on a 200g HD which is now full (349 mb remaining).

Kingsparta used to test MC (prior to v11) with over 200k files. I don't believe anyone has found an upperlimit so far.

This has been discussed several times before.

I have 53,000 files, of which about 40,000 are music files.

Rebuilding the panes in most views takes about a second or less. Searching is pretty much instantaneous in all cases. This is using MC10, I understand MC11 to be faster.

Some functions seemed to be slow, but this was dealt with by re-writing some inefficient smartlists. (I was using nested smartlists, some of which needed to filter the entire database, so it was doing that multiple times for each list. My problem, not MC.)

Currently 181,520 mp3s

I'm using MC10 with no major performance problems. Haven't tried MC11 yet.

This Topic was a major concern for me.

To start, I was playing with a purchased mediamatch (I quite around ver 6)
Database could note handle over 1000 file very well (super slow)

Changed all hardware thinking it was my end..
not so...

Found Media Center 9 beta then.

Wow...

Now I love trying to break Media Center (I've come close, the database changs are extreme in ver 11)
Contently indexing 88,221 Files @ 413.4 gig and looking a reripping all albums @ lossless ape.
Note large number are do to old DJ days :D
