When will MC work with HDD070/00 Micro audio jukebox? Now I have to use Musicmatch which I don't like.

How does this device present itself to your PC (e.g. as a removable or fixed drive)? Can you access it in Windows Explorer? If you drag and drop files onto it using Explorer, are the files detected and playable by the device?

The player shows in Windows Exlorer as a removable drive eg E: and you can copy files under 2Gb to it. MP3 files transfers nicely with MC but the I am not able to listen them with the player.

yes. Philips have an own version of Musicmatch Jukebox and there I can drag and drop files to the player. In your reply you mention the files can be transferred with MusicMatch. For this to work, I need to know if you only use Windows Explorer and copy the files,
can they be played on the device.

I use MC for choosing an album from MC's library and then I drag and drop it to the Musicmatchs transfer window

To help work out exactly what's going wrong, try copying a few files using Windows Explorer - do they copy OK?  If they do, can you play them?

Are you saying you can't play MP3s even if you transfer them with Musicmatch?

It looks like there are 4 possibilities:-

• Your player is broken and can't play anything
• Your files are corrupt and can't be played
• The transfer software is doing something wrong
• The transfer software isn't doing something it should

I had a look on the web and found an article here - http://www.itreviews.co.uk/h596f-philips-hdd070-review.htm

"We weren't that impressed by the Philips software, which you are obliged to use with this player, as it's
not very user-friendly. Apparently the software is locked to the player to protect musical copyright, so it
would seem that it's not just Creative that is playing this particular game."

If you cannot drag and drop a file from Explorer to the device and have the device recognize it, it is likely that there is a database on the device which needs to be modified
on the device to make the device aware of the transferred files. If this is the case, we will need to write a plugin for this device for it to be compatible with MC which is something
we cannot undertake at this time.

After switching "enable support forVMDM devices" on MC10 works allmost right with HDD070. I see this during the transfer:

I am not able to delete artists album because I see only track names (no artist, no album):

With Musicmatch you can delete required album.

The tree items for Aritist and Album are for browsing. If you delete tracks that have that Artist and Album name, the tree items will disappear.

Are you saying that there is a particular database file on the device that if you remove it, the device no longer can play transferred music?

Right, it renames the file to some number and the db links that up with the actual track info (or it uses the tag - not sure which).

It won't play tracks that have been transferred without  the special treatment.

I just purchased a Philips PSS110 which apparently uses the same database structure as the model mentioned in this thread.  Although I don't have an allegiance to any particular media player, I knew I wasn't installing MusicMatch JB as I've had to deal with removing it off of new Dell PCs.  Anyway, my options were to return the device or figure out a way around it.  So I wrote a .NET utilty in C# to update the database on the PSS110 with the contents of what has been copied to the device.  It still needs some more work, but as of last night it works.  If anyone has any interest, please contact me.  I'm not sure if this could be used with MC somehow as I'm not familiar with the product.  Also, if anyone is familiar with the structure of the playlist file that these Philips devices use, I would appreciate any insight.  I'm trying to get playlists to work but would prefer to not have to install MMJB to get a sample playlist.

Update: I just took a look at the sample database mentioned in an earlier post on this thread, and it appears the the playlist is database driven and does not use the file system.  So it looks like the sample database was the insight I needed.  Thanks to Skrollster for posting it.

I just picked up one of these at Sam's Club for $50 and it's a pretty cool little number.  Not perfect, but groovy for what it does (the USB 1.1 transfers are pretty slow, of course...).  A quick net search found a bit of freeware (donations accepted) that will enable you to transfer music to the player with MC.  You just need this little application to update the database on the player.  As long as you set the folder structure, etc. correctly in the Handheld Options in MC, you're good to go!

UPDATE: I may have been a bit early in my praise.  The track numbers don't seem to be updating.  That's a problem.  I'll post more as I work on it.
