Cover Art- Quick Find In File/Cover Art Directory
« on: January 20, 2005, 11:31:55 pm »

I have cover art for all albums.
They are stored as folder.jpg in the album folders.

Some are found when I import to MC.
Some are not.

How do things need to be structured for Quick Find to work?

I have found that MC doesn't care about the filenames when it checks the media file folders. If there is only one image file it gets linked. If there are several image files it doesn't link any of them.

From the cover art folder MC links image files if they are named in the "Artist - Album" style. MC uses that naming scheme also when it downloads images from the Internet.

I would like to have one more option for manual linking besides the "Add From File...". It would be "Add From File in File Directory...". It would be much faster to go directly there instead of starting from the previously used folder.

Hmmmm, thanks for the explaination.

I have only one .jpg in each folder, and that is named 'folder.jpg'

As I said, some albums have art, some do not. Using Quick Find does not add cover art for any selections that do not have them.

So, I have to manually add cover art to files each time I add new music to MC.

There seems to be something strange in the behavior. Sometimes it works and sometimes not.

I think it would be best if "Quick Find" would work in this order:

1. Go to the cover art folder and link the "artist - album.xxx" image file.

   if not found

2. Go to the file folder. If there is only one image, link that.

if there are more than one image file

3. Link the "artist - album.xxx" image file (MJ/MC standard for ages)

   if not found

4. Link the folder.jpg image file (Windows standard, thanks for the "great" innovation, Microsoft  :P)

   if not found

4. a) Offer the user to choose the image manually. Open the "Add From File..." dialog window. Start with the file folder.

   or

4. b) Don't interrupt the process. Skip the current track and go on with the list.

--- 4. a) or b) --- this should be an option. There could be a startup dialog window with a tick box.

"Add From File..." could always start in the file folder. Most probably the image files are kept there if they are not in the cover art folder.
