Hello all,

I've got MC 10 on two PCs, one a fresh install (no prior data) and the other an upgrade from my old Media Jukebox days.

For some reason, the upgrade does not have the pre-configured smartlists: "Top 100" and "Recently Played".  What's the simplest way to get these on the one PC lacking them? 

(I've managed to recreate the top100 - I'm not very up-to-speed with smartlists and it's not exactly the same - but it doesn't have that nice "top 100" icon next to it.)

Thanks, Alex, but that looks different from the syntax I see.  Are you using MC10 or 11?  I'm on 10.

I guess there's no way to recreate the ones that come prepackaged with MC10?

Try exploring the options if you right click on playlists in the tree.

I have MC11.

I have always had those smartlists, but that is probably because I imported an MC10 library backup to MC11 to start with. Do you still have a backup from v.10 ?


Instructions for creating the lists:

Right-click Playlists on the MC tree > Add Smartlist > Smartlist Name: (give it a name) > Playlist Group: (select if you like) > Smartlist Rule: > Advanced >

Paste these in (Ctrl+V or right-click and select Edit > Paste):

For Recently Played:
~sort=[last played]-d ~seq ~n=100
(this limits it to 100 entries, but you can change the number if you like)

For Top 100:
[media type]=[audio] ~sort=[Number Plays]-d ~n=100

When you add a smartlist, you should see a list of possible pre-sets.

I've managed to get the smartlists working the way (I believe) they should work.  Copying and Pasting the syntax you provided, Alex, did the trick.  I also noticed that the presets included the 'top-100' selection, but not the 'recently played'.

I need to spend more time learning how to create these; the process isn't too intuitive with just the 'help' file to guide me.  Is there a tutorial, of sorts, somewhere else I could go to?

Oh... is there a way to change the icon displayed for 'top 100' to look like the prepackaged "Top 100" icon?  I kind of like that.
