  • Split views so you can look at two (or more) views at the same time (ex. look at Media Library and Playing Now together)
  • Vastly improved database engine capable of handling 100,000's of files and large amounts of metadata (lyrics, bios, etc.)
  • Several memory and speed enhancements -- like database and skin unloading when minimizing MC

  • Integrated database import and update with smart broken linking repairing, and other nice features
  • MC can run with guest permissions on Windows 2000 / Windows XP
  • New view customization system with more flexibility for thumbnail size, text, etc.
  • Options dialogs reworked -- several small options added
  • Added multi-zone synchronization
  • Added Album Gain support
  • Document support with full text searching / indexing
  • Pane auto-sizing
  • Tile view that allows fully customizable Track Info style tiles to be used in file lists
  • New database caching layer that makes a huge speed difference in many areas of MC
  • File tagging happens in a background thread so MC can continue to be used while it's saving tags
  • Basic image editing
  • Enhanced album grouping for pictures so pictures taken together get grouped without any user intervention

I delete files, and I get the notice saying Media Core has a problem and needs to shutdown.  The music keeps playing until I click OKAY and then MC shutsdown.

The files I wanted to delete are deleted from my file system, but my library still has the entries and I must do an Import to have them them removed from the library.

Could you start a new thread and give us a step by step list of what you do to get this?

Thanks.

The "Library Tools - Clean File Properties - Convert Underscores To Spaces" command does not seem to work anymore.

Not sure if this has anything to do with it. The original filename is quite long. As an example:

billboard_top_100_hits_of_1959_-_#099_-_ernie_fields_-_in_th.mp3

which is 60.3 or 63 characters long.

When in Tagging Mode, the check marks do not appear when a category (e.,g, Genre) is selected, and the view scheme panels do not update unless you navigate to another view and back.

This was repported in build .188 but t am sure that it was so even in the build before .184

Tagging mode checkboxes only appear after you explicitly select files.  This is by design.

Media Center can display but still cannot play AAC or RealAudio files that have Unicode character filenames (specifically, Chinese and Korean and probably Japanese).  I realize they are played through external players but can't you invoke them such that they can be played?

Matt,

Even if I do so the problem in my post above still exists.

Re: No streaming Internet Radio Stations

Just downloaded latest version MC11 (110190).  By far this is the "best in class" media player/server.  Was glad to see it support UPnP (media server).  No problem with music files being played on my Netgear MP101 digital media player.  However, none of the internet radio stations will "stream" to my Netgear MP101.  Is a fix to stream interent radio stations with the UPnP plugin?

since the last couple of release I can't play a smartlist anymore in netremote (via RemoteServer.dll)
playing something in the media library works fine (as long as 'show in theatre view' is checked) :

LX "PLAY" "Media Library\Audio\Artist/Album\U2" "-1"

but playing a smartlist stopped working recently :

LX "PLAY" "Playlists\Auto Smartlists (music)\Random -- one hour" "-1"

also, If I do :

Set MJPlaylists = myMJ.GetPlaylists
MJPlaylists.GetNumberPlaylists

via the COM interface, I see 0

I tried to use the disc# field like so

album xxxx disc# 1  track 1
album xxxx disc# 1  track 2
album xxxx disc# 1  track 3
...
album xxxx disc# 2  track 1
album xxxx disc# 2  track 2
album xxxx disc# 2  track 3
...

the complete album flag is 0 even though both discs are complete...

Copy smartlists =>  eternal loop

When I copy a smartlist using Ctrl+c  -  Ctrl-v  I get the new smartlist with a (1) at  the end of the name, just as I want,  but I also get a pop-up window with the title "Please wait" and the text "Working..." After one hour (I had to take care of the laundry anyway) it is still there. The processor load is 7-11%, compared to 2-6% for an idle MC and 12-20% while playing.

MATT

Problem Report: No Internet Radio Stations on Netgear MP101

MC 11 is a great product.  Love the new UPnP plugin option.  Able to play music files ok on the MP101.  Internet Radio stations play "perfectly" on MC11.

1.  Save Radio Stations in MC 11 Playlist .  No problem
2.  MC11 plays saved Radio Stations.  No problem
3.  When viewing Playlist on MP101, I see the saved radio stations correctly.
4.  When selecting the radio station on MP101, the following error message appears on MP101 unit - "Item is Currently Unavailable".
5.  Viewing UPnP "activity" on MC 11- I see the following when trying to select Radio Station from MP101 unit

Date Time - Browse BrowseDirect Childeren Playlist Radio

So it looks like MC11 is "communicating" with MP101 unit correctly.

Is their a patch, software update, or fix available?

Pane refresh bug:

Using Artist/Album view scheme
Edit Album in second pane
Click off onto another album
Click back to the album just changed, tracks don't show
Then, click another artist, then click back to the artist you just changed
Click album you changed
Tracks now show reflecting the changes to album name

Having problems downloading.  I have tried it with firefox, IE, shareaza, and MC's own dowload manager.  I have changed the url from ftp to http and still no go.  I was usually able to DL it with shareaza but it gets down to 19 megs and then stops.  All the others  won't download anything.

*CUE FILE ISSUES*

- MC complains it can't tag CUE tracks when update tags on file changes is ticked. It is preferrable that it not complain about this like with WAV or video files.

- If fix or remove broken links is ticked in the Import/Update dialog,  *ALL* previously imported CUE tracks are LOST !!!

- If an album with imported+analysed CUE tracks is moved (within MC) after import MC loses the address of those imported CUE tracks. The big file the CUE tracks are associated with is not lost.

Any suggestions about this one? I REALLY need to export my MC data into Excel.

Attempting to "Export to XML" my default library still produces an "Out Of Memory" error.

Loading another library, I can succesfully export to XML. It seems that there is something in my default library that would cause the out of memory message.

The default library is about 18 MB and the second library is about 6.5 MB. Could that be the reason?

You are welcome to a copy of each library if it can help.

Michel.

I have a similar problem.  Using version 11.0.190.  I am using a custom playlist "Source" and scheme.  When you select items, hit F4 to enable Edit Mode and check something and F4 to close Edit Mode, the library is updated but the schemes do not update until I go over to the Organization Tree and click over to something else and then back to my scheme.  In the mean time, clicking on any of the selections shows all of the files with BOTH of their statuses (e.g. "Unassigned" and also the box selected above).

I am trying to burn an MP3 CD from some APEs I have.  When I click on "Burn", I get an error for each file saying the data will be unreliable.  It then writes the lead-in, and immediately closes the disc with nothing being burned.  Subsequent attempts either cause MC to crash or to error out with a message about being unable to open MCTranscoded.iso.  Version .188 was doing the exact same thing.

It's been a while since I've been present on the forums and even longer since I tried to burn an MP3 CD (transcoding from APE to MP3 definitely used to work), but I will be wanting to do this fairly frequently now.

Any hints on what's going on?

Thanks,
Paul

It's broken.

I use a workaround here.

Create a MC 'Handheld' device using a folder on your machine.
Set the transfer options to convert to MP3 and ignore same type files.
Arrange the files you want to burn into playlist.
Send the playlist to the handheld device you created above.
Open that folder when the transfer is complete.
Drag the MP3 files that correspond to the APE/APL files into the same position in the playlist.
Delete the APE/APL files from the playlist.
Now you are ready to burn.

Easy, eh?

I do all this only because I want the sequence number prepended to the file name so the files will play in order on any device.

Sure wish this would get fixed soon!

BUG:
In 11.18x (can't remember the version right now), if you change the tags in any way on a song currently playing, and then change the filename within MC, the file becomes missing. What really happens is that the file isn't renamed physically, only in MC library.
Here's the reproduction theme:

1. Play a song
2. In Action window/File properties, change some tags (don't know if it's necessary)
3. In AW/File properties,  change the filename
4. Play next song. The song you edited is now missing.

Was there ever an answer as to why all of the skins are showing the "Status Bar" text centered, regardless whether or not it is centered in the skins XML file? I know its just aesthetic, but its really annoying.

Agreed.  Thanks for the workaround!  This method works, but it takes a *lot* of extra steps.

Any idea on when this will be looked at?

 ;D
It has been a lot of fun for me to keep testing version 11 and see the new features, and all the fixes.
Absolutely amazing and what a tight  team between the user community and the development team.

It does appear that I may the only one to want this, but ...... I will suggest it anyway.

1. I use full face labels from Fellows(Neato) and  Avery (Afterburner). Both are two up and the same design is goof for both companies.  Is there a chance that  thee will be an addition to the label writer so that I can select  the 2-up full face design for my CD labels ?  What I have been doing is going out to  Neato's Mediaface label printer or Stomp's Click N Play, well something like that.
I do love the simplicity of how labels are printed on Media Play. One minute, you are done.

 :o

Thanks,
Jon

When I rotate an image file the thumbnail does not update; even if I use the F5 refresh key.  I have to change view schemes and come back to where I was to see it update thumbnails showing the images rotated.

Any word on when video post-processors (ffdshow, etc.) will be supported?  This was mentioned as being on the list a long time ago.

When I open MC11, I get a message (new in this version) that says "Can't start WebRemote" something. I click okay, (I don't even know what WebRemote is). Then it says that the RemoteServer is not working.

Any ideas? I just got NetRemote and that is what I use the RemoteServer for, so I'm sure it's somehow related to that.

Also, consistently for many, many versions now -- if I rip a CD and it fails on a certain track and I cancel the rip, MC freezes solid. Nothing to do except kill it.

Check your startup options and turn off Remoteserver.  Start a new thread if you need more help.
