m4p won't play on ipod
« on: February 09, 2005, 04:33:07 pm »

Hi

I just bought some music for the first time on iTunes.

When i transfer to my ipod i can see it but it will not play.

Plays fine in MC on my PC.

Tried converting m4p to mp3 vbr but says "unsupported file type" in status.

Restored and updated ipod, no change.

What do i do?

I believe you have to transfer one with iTunes.  Try a search here.

rupertn,

You must transfer one m4p to your iPod using iTunes one time. After that, reinitialize your iPod in MC and steer clear of iTunes. You will never need to transfer another file from iTunes unless you format your iPod (not initialize but totally reformat). The one file puts some licensing info on the iPod which allows m4p to play.
