Is there a way to speed up the connection time when a client is fired up and starts looking for the library server? Until it actually downloads the library it takes ages...

That sounds odd.  Is the library huge?  If so, can you set up another, smaller one and test?

I guess you are using "Search for Media Servers". Try adding the address and port number directly in "Library Manager... > Add".

Thanks. I'll give that a try. What port numbers are actually available? I used 8080 and 20002 in the past but I wonder how to find out about other possible port numbers in case there is a conflict.

Write "netstat -a" in the command prompt. It shows all connections and listening ports. I have used 4798, but as far as know any free port is possible. "Shields Up!" on the GRC website can show if the chosen port is commonly used by some software: www.grc.com.

It still takes quite a long time before the download starts. The library is about 7MB. But it is somewhat quicker already.
