Changing the options for handheld directory structure?
« on: February 21, 2005, 06:52:30 am »

Are the options for the handheld directory structure fixed?

I never use "Artist" because it contains a load of junk from compilation CDs, so always use "Album Artist". I presume though, that the list of "upload folder" formats is fixed.

I tried filepath, to mimic what I've got on my hard disk, but then it really DID mimic what I've got on my hard disk, including the full path, which wasn't really what I'd expected :-)

Also, the playlists option for the handheld seems funny - it created the paths as .\xxx even though xxx wasn't a subdirectory of where the playlists were being created...

(Does that make sense?)

Right clicking on the device gives you options for organising the structure.

Yes, I know. I did mean "options" when I said "options :-)

But there's only a few of them.
And at the moment, I'm not going to use MC's synching for my main MP3 player because it wouldn't organise them how I want them...

Ooops, so you did :-[  - I've always found the existing ones to be enough, but allowing user specified ones would be a nice feature.

My wife's flash drive is setup for Artist / Track, #2 son's generic hd player uses Artist / Album / Track (he also uses playlists) and #1 son's iPod sorted itself out without any input from anybody! I'm still waiting for my birthday  :'(
