MJ Fails To Rip or Burn since Registration
« on: October 20, 2002, 08:39:39 am »

MJ just hangs once a CD is loaded into the CDRW when trying to rip or burn a CD. This has only happened since registering the product, I could rip and burn CD's OK during the 30 day trail period.
I think I saw a similar post to this some time ago, any one know what the answer was?
Basically if you highlight some tracks then select tools/Write CD/audio CD. The burn screen shows 'No CD loaded'. Putting a cd in the Drive then locks MJ until you remove the CD, when it will then respond to mouse clicks again. The worst case I have had is having to reboot.
MJ has correctly identified the CDRW as Cyberdive CW058D and other CD write software, namely Nero 5 works fine.
I upgraded to MJ8.0.388 to try and resolve it, but no joy.
System info if it helps is:
Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.388
Install Path: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: AMD Athlon 1459 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 261 MB, Free - 143 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows 98 SE

Internet Explorer: 5.00.2614.3500
ComCtl32.dll: 5.00.2614.3600
Shlwapi.dll: 5.00.2614.3500
Shell32.dll: 4.72.3612.1700
wnaspi32.dll: 4.56 (1001) , ASPI for Win32 (95/NT) DLL, Copyright © 1989-1997 Adaptec, Inc.
Aspi32.sys: N/A

I think the software is otherwise great and would really like to rip and burn. CD's that is :D

Try changing some of the settings in Settings/Options/CD Writer.

Check to make sure it is registered to you (one of the help-> options).

Thanks.
I have tried all sorts of variations in the CD writer settings of MJ. No joy, sadly.
I have also just checked the registration info and it is defitnitely registered to me. At least the registration info box gives:
Product:            MEDIA JUKEBOX PLUS 8.0.388
Registered To:      correct name
Registration Code:      corrrect code.

Maybe there is a full uninstall option that also cleans the registry, so I can try and re-install? I have read that doing a normal uninstall appears to leave the registration code in the registry.

Possibly, so to get around that backup your license (to some known HD directory or floppy). Do a uninstall/reinstall then restore your license. Should take care of it.
