Hi all,

Further to the subject - I've got more problems with MJ 8.0. I've been trying to burn some MP3's in a specific order so that I can play them in both my car (which is a high-end Pioneer head unit that can read folders/sub folders etc....) and in my DVD player in my living room.

FWIW, I did a search on this forum for such problems and I've found some ideas, but unfortunately, none of them have worked for me.

The problem is that even though I either create a new custom playlist and drag the songs from that into the burning section of MJ, or even if I drag the files directly from the Media Library into the burner, to then re-arrange them in the burner screen into an order that I want them to burn, they still keep on burning in an alphabetical order.

WTH ? The reason I got MJ in the first place about 3 years ago is b/c it did everything that I wanted it to, simply and logically (at least to my way of thinking anyway). Plus, it seemed to work better on my Thinkpad which was running Win98, than it does on my wife's brand new HP with WinXP ! As none of the issues that I've had since installing it on my wifes computer ever occured on my Thinkpad....

Any ideas would be great.

It's not an MJ8 problem. MP3 disk is a data disk. The files cannot have particular order. The order you see depends on the program that is used for reading. If your hardware devices are programmed to see the files in alphabetical order there is nothing you can do for it. Media Center 11 can add sequence numbers in front of the filenames. With MJ8 you must rename the files by yourself before burning if you like to put them in a certain order.

I think it also may depend if the device can see a play list file and load the file and play the play list in the order it was saved.

That's true, but I don't think MJ8 makes m3u playlists on the fly. If I remember correctly that came later to MC.

I have three MP3 HW devices. They all play the files in alphabetical order and don't care about m3u playlists. That's why I have asked if m3u writing could be optional in MC11.

If you want to play in a particular order then I would think individual tracks wouldn't matter.
Wrap the tracks to an albumwrap and then play them as one file.
