V11 Many lowbitrate MP3s Fail to Play
« on: May 05, 2005, 06:51:13 am »

I have  bunch of low bitrate audiobooks that refuse to play in MC11 but play fine on my portable devices and in MS Media Player. The tags display just fine. The error asks me to check my sound card settings and such. Do you guys want a sample file?

Is it possible that WMP uses the system's default audio driver and MC is configured to use a different driver? For example, ASIO4ALL driver does not work with sample rates below 44.1 kHz. What is the sample rate of your files?

I've got some audio books @32 kbit, and they play just fine.

I fixed it. The DSP settings were set to "Source Sample Rate". Thanks for the suggestions.

It means that some part of your audio system (e.g. soundcard, driver, digital out, amp) that MC uses cannot handle the 22 kHz sample rate.

What is your soundcard and are you using digital out?

I have no problems with playing 22 kHz files (except through the ASIO4ALL driver as I wrote earlier).

If your music files have the standard 44.1 kHz sample rate there is no harm in keeping the 44.1 kHz resampling on all the time.
