where is mjextman.exe?
« on: October 09, 2002, 08:49:06 am »

Hi all,

I am new to MJ. I installed 8.0.385 and want to try some command line options.
But then I cannot find the mjextman.exe... Where is it?

Thanks a lot!

Should be sitting right in your MediaJukebox directory.

I only got "Media Jukebox.exe" to launch the program...
I've done a global search to
"F:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox" and its subfolders,
yet I cannot find the file "MJExtMan.exe"...

Any idea? ?

It is located at

C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\mjextman.exe

I just checked.

if you installed it on drive F: maybe there might be a Install problem from the installer or the file has been deleted.

maybe if you do another install check to see if it is in the install dir, and then if it is not then it may be a Install problem when MJ installs

I'm using Win 2K... My System drive is E:.
I've just tried to uninstall MJ and install it again to E:.
But the file MJExtMan.exe still does not exist.
It's pretty wired....

It moved to the system directory a few builds ago. (i.e. C:\Windows\System32)

This makes me crazy  >:(.   And I'll bet you're not deleting the orphaned versions in the MJ install directory are you?   Just out of curiosity why did you guys feel the need to clutter up the system directory?  You could just modify the PATH environment variable if that's all you were concerned about.

Is this a speed-of-access issue?

I agree that the MJ installer should clean up the old .exe files.  Not sure if it'll be doing that.

Also, for people like me who have batch files written to call mjextman, without a link, or at least notification, these batch files will simply stop working.
