Software to manage 7.1 stream on PC
« on: July 12, 2005, 03:48:15 pm »

Ok. What I've been thinking of doing in progressing my whole house audio system to another level (on a budget) is to use a 7.1 ch reciever, and use the 7 amps to drive 3 sets of stereo speakers placed throught the house. The reason behind using a 7.1 reciever (even a 6.1 will do) is because they are quite cheap for an entry level unit)
On the PC side I want to run JRiver MC 11 hooked up through a optical link to the reciever.
Now what I need to find (and this is where I'm hoping you guys can help) is in finding some software that will create 3 virtual sound cards (which get combined into a 7.1/6.1 stream on the PC) and send that stream to the reciever.
What I want to have in the end is access to 3 zones of music (through MC11), and just use one reciever to power it all.
Suggestions? Ideas?
