Help playing VOB files
« on: August 09, 2005, 04:34:28 pm »

I have a few music clips as stand alone VOB files which I would like to add to my Media Center library and play.  HOwever, when I try to play such files, I get an error message:

Media Center encountered errors while trying to play the last several files.
Please make sure the path in your media library points to the right location.

Other players seem to play these files with no problem - but Media Center 11 can't.  Is there something I should download or change so that these can be played.  Even when I do a library update, Media Center doesn't import these VOB files.

All help is greatly appreciated.

Search this forum for help. There's tonnes of info on this subject.

In a nutshell, MC will have problems playing stand-alone vobs. You need to rip a dvd or movie in it's entirety and import the first vob in the series of vobs.

I also have stand alone music videos in VOB files.  I just renamed them to MPG and 'most' of them work fine.  I do however have a resulting problem on a few files...see link for related posting:
