iPod & MC 11.1
« on: October 14, 2005, 07:36:16 pm »

Everytime I try and synch all my tracks and playlists at once it freezes when it "finishes" and I have to do the soft reboot routine and then delete the itunesdb file.  After that I find that the songs and playlists are not on the ipod and that the size of the ipod is 30gb less than what it was before I synched.  I am running out of options.  There must be something wrong with how the software (MC- 11.1) and my ipod are interacting.

The only way I can seem to get my playlists and songs on to the ipod is to synch the playlists in groups of three or four.  Is there a way to drag groups of playlists to the handheld player in the action window and then synch?   The Auto-synch only these playlists option always fails when I select all my playlists.

Am I doing something wrong or is this an iPod and MC 11.1 interaction issue?

If you could, please try build 35 that just went up.

If you still have problems, a few more details would help:

1) how many playlists are you doing?
2) how many total files?
3) what happens if you wait a long time? (20 minutes)
4) what does the log (MC > Help > Configure Debug Logging... ) show after a hang? (email a copy to matt @ jriver.com if you could)
5) have you tried doing an "Initialize Ipod" from the right-click menu to start fresh?

Thanks for the help.  If you hang with us, we'll get it working.

Hey Matt,

I initialized my ipod and started from scratch using the new build (11.1.35) and this time the ipod did not freeze after synching all my playlists and tracks but when I disconnected all the songs were on the ipod but none of my playlists (I have 315 playlists) were there.  It seems we are getting closer.  All the other fields were populated (artists, genres, albums).

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly and all your help getting this going.  I really appreciate it.

Thanks.  We'll do some testing on our end with lots of playlists early next week and get back to you.  Hopefully we'll be able to reproduce what you're seeing.

Best,

here the same ... with 11.1.35 I can now sync my files without the reboot problem but I still see no playlists on my ipod  :'( the files itself are all there.
I think it has nothing to do with the amount of playlists because I have only about 15 data/smartlist for synching and the same ploblem like bd6675.

Hello,

I’m using MC 11.0.316 and I have a similar but not exactly the same problem. When I transfer playlists to my iPod then first list of the transferred lists is not visible on the iPod or sometimes its name is blank and it does not contain any items. Also sometimes lists that should be removed from iPod aren’t and I have to remove them manually. However, in iPod device in MC tree everything appears correctly – all lists are visible and removed lists do disappear.

Thanks/Mikael

The playlist issue with 11.1 should be fixed in the next build.

Hopefully it'll be out tomorrow.  Thanks.

Could you try with 11.1?
