Save Playing Now as Playlist
« on: December 16, 2005, 09:36:18 pm »

Ok, I got a little ad-hoc playlist going that I created by dropping tracks into the Playing Now pane. Gee, it sounds good and I like what I put together. So I wanna save my compilation to a named playlist. How do I save the nice little playlist I just created? Yeah, I have the option set to "save playing now upon exit". But I wanna save it in a named playlist.

This should be easy - I feel stupid.  :P

Right click playing now in the tree.
Send to > playlist > create playlist.
Give it a name.
Press OK.

Also, you can

make a selection in PN > right-click one of the selected files > Sent To > Playlist > Create Playlist...

Like I said - I feel stupid I didn't see that! But, maybe it could be made a little easier? I'm coming from another program "CDJ" to J.R. The option in CDJ is  File->Save Playing Now. Pretty quick and intuitive. A hot key would also be nice.

Thanks for the kind help guys!

perhaps you may find the following feature useful?

When you change the files in playing now,  a new playlist group is automatically created called "recent playing now's"
they are named by date and time, but can easily be renamed and dragged to a new home in the tree.
If you want to save any of them, you must remember to do so before closing MC, as the recent playing now's playlist group is reset on each startup.

I'd LOVE to see this capability for Theater View!!!

The recent playing now list is just not very useable as it becomes very big very quickly and finding that presious playlist which took you an hour to compile using nothing but a remote is often very difficult. The list is sorted strangely also in terms of time (I've raised this before).
