Hi King,

I think on one of your versions you could extract art from inside the file, Can this still do that? I seen someone asking about that.

Hey King,

New version looks great - one thing I noticed though - if in manual mode and you hit delete selected - it asks if you want it removed for all three - artist/album/song - but I don't think it is deleting the image for the album.

I was going through some art that I downloaded and noticed a few that were incorrect - so manually went to change them - on the first track - I select delete for all - and then on the second track the same image still appears.

This is where you deleted a file, it is deleting it from the site.

if you do not delete it from your file\system you may see it upload again when you navigate back to that media file.

if it was the same artist what happens is it checks to make sure that image is in all 3 places, so the last 3 images you deleted Artist, Album And Name, the next file it will see that two of them are missing, Artist and Album and the plug-in will upload the recently deleted images.

What i was thinking of doing, is remember the recently deleted images, and not allow the plug-in to upload them.

I just tested it again - with the album -  one hit wonders disc 7 - I manually went to track 1 - selected the image - hit delete selected - it asked me the questions about deleting all 3, then asked me if I wanted to remove cover art from my folder and disk - yes and yes.  I then checked the folder where the music is located and the picture was indeed deleted. Seems to be working fine at this point.

Then I Manually went to track 2 - it displayed the album image again and put a copy of this image into my folder.

So I don't think the album delete is working.

I am not sure about the same artist's CD's - the one I noticed it on was a multiple artist cd.  But I would say that you don't want to have it putting deleted items back.

Note The Artist Is Not The Same For That Same Image

Looking For: F/frdavid/Album/onehitwondersdisc7/*.jpg
Looking For: I/imagination/Album/onehitwondersdisc7/*.jpg

There would be no way to know the two were connected

yes but I wanted to delete the art for the Album - I can see where the image may still show up if you look for artist or song - but it shouldn't show up again for album - especially since that is the primary search string.

I don't know if there is way to do it for multiple artists CD's but it would be good if it could - at least at the album level.

I hear you, but it is saved under the artist name (as you can see in the path), if the artist is different it will not be found. there is no way the plug-in can guess when it is working on one artist that the next track it has not even looked at is even related.

It can not be saved under album name because album names can be the same

"Best Hits"
"Greatest Hits"

The plug-In is working as it should in regards to this, And I Don't see any way around it.

chugging along - when the server was down - did cause MC to freeze up and then shut down.  Maybe you should put a default connection attempts - 2 or 3 and then a not that says try back later.....

Actually I Was Thinking About That.

I Have Also Been Thinking About A CDDB Type Plug-In That Would Write The Data To Your CDPlayer.ini And you can then get it from MC When You Call It To Get Data For That CD It Will Pull It From The CDPlayer.ini file Located In C:\windows etc...

Using The FreeDB Database

I Have Also Been Playing With GraceNotes.com Controls (CDDB) To Pull Up CD Information.

That sounds like a good option - I have a question about being connected though - I had a batch going and it seemed like it really sped up.

it appears that it wasn't really connecting to the server but was still motoring along.  I stopped it and started it from where I caught it but it doesn't seem like that there is any warning or anyway for the plugin to automatically stop if the server gets disconnected during a batch.

I don't know where it stopped so I am not sure what you did or didn't get - anyway to tell me the last files uploaded from me - sometime between 6 and 12 pm PST today?

I did something that made the server lockup 2 times. I was working on a program to parse Free-DB's CDID And Data Files And Write Them To The Drive As Individual Files. It Works alot better when you don't lock up the system in a do loop.

you were here (Abouts)

lucinda williams - car wheels on a gravel road

3.0.14 may be better it should tell you something in the log and when it reaches the retry max it will pop up a message.

is there a log file? The only log I look at is the event log tab and it seems to only hold so much data.

Another change request - it would be nice if when you were in autobatch and chose to stop the batch - you could restart from where you stop it.  I know that there is a pause as soon as you click on another tab at the top - it starts back up.  Or if you pause - it says user has paused batch - once you click okay - it starts back up - so you can't really do anything.

I want to be able to either stop or pause batch - go to playlists or watch a video or whatever and then go back to the plug-in with out having to start over or editing my playlist.

Thanks.

Yes I Know, I Thought About That

Maybe I Can Fix That And The Pause Problem With The Same Option.

The Way I Have It Now It Should Be Easy To Add.

I Am Thinking Of A Pop Up Window And Ask What # In The PlayList To Start At, Maybe With A SlideBar And Or A Text Box Requesting A #

I Will See What I Can Think Of In The Next Few Days.

It looks like it always puts the image inside the file (even if I tell MC in the options not to store the file inside)

If doing this via the MC coverart finder, it works fine

It Works As Advertized.

It Does Not Store It In The File.

It Only Puts The Image In The Database.

When You Click To Go Back To MC MC will See The New Images And Then Save Them To The File, If Thats The Way You Have MC Set.

I Just Tested It Also.

I've just updated from 3.0.2 to 3.0.16 and the plugin is no longer working.
It reports that it can not find my Cover Art Folder in the registry.
The value File Location - Image File Location points to C:\Artwork\ which is a valid directory but I'm using the Next To File (Folder.jpg) option to save my artwork. I've changed the settings as instructed by the plugin but to no effect

I'm using MC 11.0.316

Thanks in advance

you may need to download the latest MC 11.1

There has been some changes in the MC registery due to new options in MC 11.1 that MC 11 does not have.

One of them tells mc where and what options your using for your Art.

What He Is Talking About Is:

I have a Message Pop Up When The Registery Entry Is Not Found On A Users System That Is Required For The Plug-In To Find The Art And How It Is Saved.

The Registry Entry

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 11\Properties\File Location - Image File Location Rule"

I think Has 3 Values 0, 1, & 2

0 = In Cover Art Folder
1 = Next To File, Folder.jpg
2 = Next To File, Artist - Album.jpg

You actually can create this Key and value without upgrading (if you know how to use regedit.exe)

The Other Location Is:

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 11\Properties\File Location - Image File Location"

That holds the path of your cover art folder and that has not changed from mc11 to mc11.1 so if it is not finding the path something is wrong.

If You Can Look To See If That Key Is There If Not Create It With A Valid Path. I Am Not Sure What Would Happen If A User Was Using MCx And Upgrade To MC11 it could be using a Older MJ Cover Art Path Key.

Or Something Is Blocking The LookUp Of The Key

Both keys are present and correct, but using RegMon I can see no attempt to read the keys when i select the coverart tab, if that's when you read them.

I did some calling and reading

Here is a link from micosoft, it is a link to download Windows Script 5.6 for Windows XP and Windows 2000.

I was told that this should fix the problem

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c717d943-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en

Let me know how it turns out.

What is strange is this should be installed when windows is installed. not unless something like security software is blocking or missing files etc...

I have a question regarding performance.

I’m using the batch function and it only processes 170 tracks per hour.  Is this normal?

I’m using all of the default settings.

I’m using v3.0.16 of Cover Art Finder and v11.1.90 of MC with a very fast internet connection and very fast PC.

I disabled norton anti-virus auto-protect in case that could be slowing it down, but it is still the same.  My latest check is 150 tracks per hour.

I checked the log and it looks like files are always uploaded to the server from my PC.  I'm not sure how accurate the log is, but is says it uploads the cover art for every track of the same album where the cover art is the same.

It looks for a image of the same size if not found it uploads.

this may change down the road once more cover art shows up on the server.

like max covers per folder and maybe a lock option on a folder to prevent more art from being uploaded. Like maybe if the folder already has 500x500 art.

Does it check the file name as well?  From the log it checks the file name, finds it is not there, uploads it, and does the same thing again for the next track.  I assumed it was rechecking by track, but don't understand why it sends it up again for every track.  It must be the same size as it was just sent up from the prior track.

Actually The File Size And File Name Are One Of The Same.

but don't understand why it sends it up again for every track.
Because it saves it in a new location under the new track name.

So It Saves it Once under the album name, one time under the artist, and one time for each track name.

this way no matter if a user has an album name they can get a cover under the artist name and then the track name if they select "loose".

I know there must be a better way but i can't think of one.

I understand.

I tried it again for a group I already processed.  The performance is fine if there is no uploading to do, so that is where the time goes.   I don't mind uploading my cover art, but for now it takes too long.  I will use a smartlist with missing cover art in the short term.

Based on your description, I think this would significantly improve the performance.

I was looking at all the Cover Art Work And I Was Thinking About Image Sizes

Image Area: < 225x225 = Small
Image Area: 225 X 225 To 400 X 400 = Med
Image Area: > 400 X 40 To 650 X 650 = Large
Image Area: > 650 X 650 Huge

So Lets Say I Have A Album

Beatles - White Album

And The User Had All Sizes Checked The Plug-In Would Search In This Order Once A Image Is Found And If Larger Than Your Art Within User Approved Sizes Then Download It.

[X] If Huge Then Search \B\Beatles\WhiteAlbum\Huge\
[X] If Large And Not Found Then Search \B\Beatles\WhiteAlbum\Large\
[X] If Med And Not Found Then Search \B\Beatles\WhiteAlbum\Med\
[X] If Small And Not Found Then Search \B\Beatles\WhiteAlbum\Small\

Upload Only Art For That Album (Once)

4 [Buttons] Small, Medium, Large, Huge

Also If You View A Image The Size Would Be Displayed Like [500 X 500]

If A Image Is Uploaded Once, Then You Can Not Browse By Artist, But We Can Make This Is A Option To Upload Also To The Artist Folder If The File Does Not Exist.

Any Ideas, Sound Better?

Hi King,

Installing Windows Script 5.6 did the trick - should it have already been on my system?

Thanks for your help

Not Sure I Have Read Conflicting Web Pages That Say Yes And Some Say No.

I Am Going To Do More Reading, If It Is Not And I Can Send It I Will Include It In The Install.

Version 3.0.17 (Many Changes)
The Plug-In No Longer Uploads For Each Song Name
The Plug-In Now Can Figure The Image Size IE 300x300, 500X500 etc... And Show You What Size The Art Is
You Can Upload Images To "Album Name" And "Artist Name"
Depending On The Size Of the Art It Will Fall Into 4 Categories Huge, Large, Medium, Small
You Can Select What Sizes To Download From Using A Check Box [X] Huge, [X] Large, [X] Medium, [X] Small
Now Shows The File Sizes 300X300, 500X500, On The Browser Page For "View All Images"

If You Find Any Problems Let Me Know...

Sunday 1-Jan-2006 I Am Going To Create A Program To Move All Current Images To The New Format. This Program Is Uploading To A Completely New Area. So Any Images You Have Uploaded Will Not Show Up Until I Have Them Moved Or Someone Uploads Them.

Much Faster

I tried to download 3.0.17 but the download link is missing.  If you click on help, it goes to the help page and shows the download link there, but all it does is toggle you back to the main page.

I checked again with RegMon after installing Windows Script 5.6 and I can see it reading the registry now.

One thing, if you do decide to include it with your install is that it didn't work untill after a reboot.

Cheers
