Importing Playists Workaround and Enhancement Request
« on: January 10, 2006, 02:16:36 pm »

I use other progams to auto create .m3u playlists based on various criteria and it would be helpful to get these playlists easily into mc11.  I can't always live in mc11 and need to have playists to share or to load on to other devices or use in other programs that do things mc11 was not designed to do.

Playlist management for importing externally created .m3u flies does not work.  Imported Playists via Import Media are always blank.  Please get the import playlists feature to work as expected along with some documentation on its usage so we can use our playlists.  What appears to happen when importing .m3u files using Import Media is if the file in the playlist to imported contains files already in your library, then it does not want to show them in the Imported Playlists section of the tree.

The workaround, and you have to use windows explorer with mc11, is to create a new playlist or choose an existing playlist within mc11.  Then drag the playlist .m3u file you are trying to import from windows explorer into the existing playlist in mc11.  It does the job but I would rather have this simple funtionality built into mc11.

Suggestion: When an .m3u file is highlighted in the mx11 tree pane, the view window should always show the contents, just as when viewing Playlists in the tree pane.  Drag individual files from these externally created playists to new locations and drage the entire playlist.

Add a right-click menu option to import the playlist which defaults to the playlist filename that you can change and also lets you type in a group name.  Exactly the same dialog when you right-click Playlists in the tree pane and create a playlist from scratch.
