Digital Certificate pop up
« on: February 05, 2006, 05:44:31 pm »

(Using MC 11.1.113 )

When using Music Center a pop window keeps asking me to select a digital certificate. This began in MC 11.1.112 and seems to happen every few minutes in the latest version.  The message reads:

"The Web site you want to view requests identification. Please choose a certificate."

I'm not asking to view any web site and there are no digital certificates to choose from.

Is there a setting I can change somewhere to get rid of this, or is this a bug?

Are you using any third party plug-ins?

Thanks for the quick reply.

The only plugins I have are the Audible, Audio Lunchbox and CDBaby ones that come with MC. I also have the DirectX Host plugin downloaded from MC's site listed under the DSP Studio.

I don't know what it is.  I had a similar problem on one of my machines that I never could solve.  I think IE's digital certificate handling was messed up.

Try an uninstall/reboot/reinstall.

If that doesn't work and you think it's related to build 112 or above, try an earlier build.  I think 111 is on the download page.

I would also

make sure the computer date is correct.

pull up Task manager to see if there is a iexplorer.exe running if so terminate it.

Use a network sniffer: www.ethereal.com
This will tell which site is being accessed, and may provide clues what's going on.

I am seeing this now on serveral machines too.  Perhaps related to IE7 Upgrade??

Any ideas why launching MediaCenter would cause this?
