Don't import folder.jpg
« on: March 29, 2006, 05:28:59 am »

I have selected the opcion: Tools -> Options -> File Alocation -> Location rule: Next to file (folder.jpg)
If I add an image from file, in the next "Import Media" I do, the folder.jpg is imported, and I think nobody want to import this folder.jpg because itīs a copy of another image he/she already has.

Itīs possible to add and option in "Import Media" window not to import this file type?

sorry for my bad english  ::)

Could you possibly remove the users in the next build?
Ever since I first used Media Center I saw that they cause issues.
I'm sure no one needs them.
Then we could go with Ferrents idea.

It's one reason I do not use MC for my images. I don't want all the folder.jpg imported.
An option would be nice.

Once it's imported and you remove it from the library, then the "Exclude file previously removed from library" should keep it out.

Or do what I do, and just tag their genre as "Album Art" and filter that genre out of my image view schemes.

You could always add       -[Filename (name)]=[folder.jpg]

That shoyld remove that from any sceme or smartlist you add it to.

Actually, yeah... add that to your Access Control list and even though MC has imported it, you'll never see it in your library.

This is a very nice solution.  This sort of thing is what that feature is for.

If you don't want to import image files, then don't do that. Just untick the image file types in the import options.

I import all cover art files from my music folders. Often I have more than one (back, booklet, CD etc) and I use MC's database for handling them. I link the front cover image as album art, but I can show all album images in a slideshow while listening to the album.

Imported images and an additional view scheme that can show all files types are also good for moving complete folders including the image files.

This would be easier if MC had Media Type checkboxes in the list of file types to import.

It does, you just need to click advanced  :)

Edit:
Ah I guess you mean purely, Audio/Video/Images etc...

Yeah, like 4 boxes (one each for the 4 different media types) that include all of their respective file types.

Something like this...

Right click on the Images in the tree, and choose edit.
Then paste     -[Filename (name)]=[folder.jpg]    into the Step 4 bar...

You should not see folder.jpg in any Image view again,.

If all of your image child view schemes are set to honor the parent's search criteria, then doing it just for the parent will work.

Alternatively, you could use View->Access Control and add that line there. That will prevent you from seeing them anywhere in the library.
