Hi,
I'm new to the HTPC world,..so be patient...
I recently discovered the uPnP standard as means to connect 'Media Extenders'.
In all the information I read that you can stream content from the PC to the extender,..but what I'm interested in is if the extender offers the full functionality of the MC.
So:
- Can I watch live TV
- Can I control the recording options from the extenders
- How many extenders can be connected to the MC
- ..

Any help is highly appreciated

The player devices (extenders) only offer limited functionality. TV won't work, and you cannot set recording options (or any Media Center options).

You can connect multiple extenders to MC, but there are some small catches.
