Use rating stars for own library fields
« on: April 14, 2006, 01:40:50 pm »

I have got a custom library field that I use for mood ratings, 1 (depressive) to 5 (uplifting). It would be nice to be able to use the star system to edit this, as with track ratings. I've played around with the settings, and as far as I can tell, this isn't possible so far, so, could you add this please?

Thanks,

andy

I asked for this a couple of versions ago without much luck. I thought it would be cool if, when you created a new library field, and were picking the field type, you could just pick "Rating" out of the list and from then on this field would be represented by the 5 stars. I'd still like to see this someday. It would be nice to have seperate ratings for Artist, Album, and Song. :)

Mmm! I have a system of attributing a season to my favourite stuff; i.e. whether a track is a summer song or a winter song. I'd love if the graphic ratings system was opened up so that I could use a graphic system for applying these seasons, like a sun for summer, snowflake for winter, etc. It's as important to me as rating when it comes to my nomad jukebox; I won't synch anything that doesn't have a rating or a season.

If the graphic system was opened up, you could then use different coloured stars for mood ratings, artist ratings, album ratings, etc. as well.
;D

Maybe a start in this direction will appear in MC12...

A rotating animated star with a sparkle would be nice.

The colour suggestion was simply to avoid confusion.

I like animation

but it would be nice if the rating image could be used on user created fields.

or a way when setting up a rated field a user could use a "Browse" to connect 1-5 to 5 different images

I'd like this too, but i'd prefer they also allow us to select what art we want to be displayed. Why stop at stars only ?

I have a ratings confidence system where i would love to see a bar with a % in it that would change depending on the number of listens. The bars could be user designed jpeg, png etc.

In short more graphical options for displaying data. This is an area where MC needs more work on.
