Malformed Command
« on: September 17, 2002, 01:03:55 pm »

I'm consistently getting a "Malformed command" from CDDB.

Is this a known issue or am I doing something dumb?

Thanks!

You may have to use yadb instead.  CDDB may have shut off access.

are you running Norton firewall?

there was a problem with noton firewall and the CDDB DLL's that MJ uses. there was a fix on The norton web site for the current version of the firewall.

To fix the problem a Uninstall of the firewall is needed or download the latest version of there firewall.

Turning off the firerwall does not fix the problem it must be uninstalled.

if this is true (you using the Norton Firewall) this is not a MJ problem.

Nope still working, I Just Checked.

Question i have been thinking about for the last month when YADB came out.

Users Of MJ 7 will they need to upgrade when CDDB pulls access?

I can't speak for CDDB, but my understanding is that existing CDDB accounts will remain viable, but new accounts cannot be opened.

I would be a new account, I don't have Norton's firewall.

Has Gracenote closed down?

CDDB has lost many of it's major players including Now MJ. Mainly dealing with Licensing Issues and Cost. The CDDB service is not free and they just raised there fees 600% so companies are droping them as an information provider.

This is a complex issue.

The Licensing application is on www.Gracenote.com if you wish to read it.

As for current versions of MJ YADB will replace CDDB For MJ8 And MJ9 I Am Sure.

It's exactly as King said.  I would prefer not to go into details because I wish Gracenote well.

OK and understood.

Thanks again guys.

I heard about MJ8 in the iPod forums, one of the moderators is a big advocate.  I'm finding out what a powerful program it is.  I've bought the Plus version and right now I'm using it instead of RealOne.
