Saving tag changes (1 remaining) for 30 minutes!
« on: June 06, 2006, 03:14:21 pm »

I did a quick rename of some files and directories, but MC has said "Saving tag changes (1 remaining)" for around 30 minutes now. Is there any way to find out what track it's stuck on, and what will happen if I just close MC?

That usually happens if the track is currently playing...

There isn't a track playing which is paused or something is there?

I just found it myself and was about to post when I got the E-mail about your post. Yes, I found the problem. A file in zone 5 was paused, not playing. so it couldn't be moved. Stopping it fixed it. I saw that it wasn't playing when I frist went through the files, but I hadn't noticed that it was paused. Thanks!

When closing MC while tagging is in progress, it will display a progress message counting down the files.

If a file is still locked at this stage (after MC has stopped all playback, etc.), an error message will be displayed.

So basically, trust MC.  It'll let you know if there's a problem.

Thanks! And believe me, I trust MC! Which is why I have removed all tags from my files and I'm in the middle of a full proof reading of all artists, albums and song names, so I can make MC rename the tracks correctly and then never change them again. This will stop the hysterical backups every time I have changed files. All changes will be...in hysterical backups of the MC library! :D

Lol, MC already does that, seemed almost everytime you change a field.

But i prefer the backups i make as they are usually done at meaningful points in time, ie i just listened, rated & imported this album, did a cursory check and everything is ok.

Yeah, me too. Not to mention that I give them meaningful names as well.
