I know most users use the Date field for the year a CD was released but I have some issues.

1) When I sort by this, it would be nice to have the month and day, too, so lately I have been adding in the format 2-28-2001 and MC automatically converts to 2/28/2001 which is nice because it shows that MC understands what I'm entering.  While I haven't tried since then, I'm assuming it will sort more indepth with this additional information.  The problem is that sometimes this information is not available...etc

2) What about items that were released on record years before being released on CD?  This annoys me because I don't know what to pick since the release on CD was not necessarily that important, but merely a "get it on CD whenever there's time" type of thing.

3) Perhaps year is enough?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
