Sometime in the next few days, we'll provide a beta release of JRiver Media Center 12.0. We'll try to keep you informed here about the features.

We're going to do beta testing differently this time. We'll start with 20 users. Each month we will add more users to the list. There will be a separate board that is only visible to these users.

Please help us choose the first testers. Please nominate a Round One beta tester. (Other than yourself

)

MC12 can be installed alongside MC11.1 (if the 11.1 is build 188 or higher). They will use different libraries, etc.

Here's the current feature list:

* New and improved default look "Noire"
* EXIF image tag information is imported into the library for use in view schemes, searches, etc.
* New "Display View" that replaces Full Screen View and Windowed View with a more streamlined look
* On-the-fly bad pixel filtering in images to mask CCD or other defects with images
* New default Mini View called "Slim" that's based off the standard skin
* Media modes replaced by new left navigation system in player
* Major speedups to searching (over 11x faster), sorting (over 3x faster), view switching, and program startup
* Burning multiple CD sets at once as while as splitting large audiofiles (books, podcasts, etc.) across discs
* DVD filter selection
* Filter selection, color controls, and many other video playback enhancements
* Background imports with folder watching
* New "Tag Info" system for streamlined file organization and tagging

Scothom - We want to keep flac support working....
KingSparta - His plugins saved me alot of work when I first got into MC

The rest of Sparta's list is hard to argue with..... I'd like someone who plays around with the Tivo Server to be involved as well.....I've been using that alot lately now I finished wiring my house.

King Sparta should be a gimmie because he's a Moderator, and a very helpful one at that. His list is about as good a Top 20 as you're gonna get.

I think King and Pink have pretty much covered it, + the others mentioned. Cant tell about the balance of v12.0 improvements from Jims list, but important that the first 20 cover 'specialisms' across the MC range: music organisers, image organisers, home theatre experts, audiophiles, plugin designers etc...

Ive been lurking more than posting for a while, but I reckon these suggestions do that.

I'd definitely agree with King Sparta's list with the minor exception of removing me and adding him.

Not that I don't want to do it. (I do!). But I'm not allowed to nominate myself, and since he's not allowed to nominate himself, this would return the favor.

As much as I'd like to nominate myself, I can't, but I think the best way to pick people would be to go through old 'Media Center 11.1.xxx' threads and pick people that deliver good bug reports with all relevant information included.

All mentioned are great nominees. If you like to include newcomers and people with a different point of view I would like to propose mesue. She is a graphics software expert and would probably be a valuable asset.

Is lise going to write the help file once again? She has often raised good questions about new features and usability. I suppose it would be good if she could participate at an earlier stage this time.

My list was based on user activity (posts), how helpful they are to other users (as i remember there posts), and how recent the user last visited the forum.

Alex B out of all of them have been the most helpful and most active.

I just wanted to remind you about the seriously counter-intuitive handling of cue files in mc at the moment, and encourage you to fix it in 12.

I agree with all the nominees so far, with the exception of one... myself

I'm not sure if I can be of much help since I only use MC for audio and just started testing with video clips a month ago or so.

However, since I have a large library (302,000 songs 1/3 of them with lyrics) if the developers think that my library could help for testing purposes, I would be more than happy to make it available.
