New IPOD 60 - iTunes is LAME
« on: July 04, 2006, 11:13:51 am »

The lameness of iTunes really makes me appreciate MediaCenter so much more....

I know it's an Apple product, but when in Rome.... iTunes is not very Windows like.  I don't delete tracks or remove them, I "clear" them.  But then while clearing, it says "preparing to delete".

Is there any reason to even keep iTunes loaded when I have MediaCenter?

I've had an Ipod for a year,
I uninstalled ITunes 2 days after.

I have not found a reason to reinstall it.

I've never installed iTunes!

I don't feel I'm missing anything because of this.

There are some posts relating to the ipod's alarm feature. The beeper works OK, but apparently, if you want to use the alarm to play a playlist, you must eject the ipod using iTunes. If that's not important to you, I'm not aware of any other reason to keep iTunes.

Thanks for the info, deleting now...

It does not multi-task well either.

Would I be right in saying that MC has no equivalent of "Copy To Play Order" which enables you to sort your play list in any order you like then copy that order to the iPod?

I've still got iTunes installaed for this reason alone.

I'm not sure I follow you.
Any playlist or smartlist that I sync to the ipod using MC arrives on the ipod in the order specified by MC.
You can apply any ~sort rules you like to a smartlist, MC applies them when building the list, and preserves them when sending to the ipod.

Or is that not what you mean?
