Anyone here familiar with XBMC? XBox Media Center
« on: July 12, 2006, 10:34:38 pm »

I have a modded xbox that I have installed Xbox media center. (this is NOT the XBOX360) This is from the original xbox.

I must say this is absolutely the best media streamer/home media setup I have ever seen.

Now that my dvd collection is at my fingertips while I am sitting on my couch....

I want to find a way to get my 25,000 APE Lossless formatted songs to my xbox.  Xbox media center supposedly supports FLAC but I have never really used FLAC because it does not seem to be as well supported in MC.  APE has worked great for me since day one.

Here are some screens shots...

These images are borrowed from an avsforum.  I would love to see these two programs come together.

Anyone here messed with this before?  I searched for XBMC and found nothing.  I can't imagine that I am the 1st.

a modded XBOX with XBMC is a fantastic piece of art  ;D

..maybe i don't understand your question, but why not just use the built in "smb share"... (there are other options as well..)

i have no problem to play "apes" on my Xbox :)

I guess I just wanted to know if there were any tips or tricks to get it all working.

Right now I have the following issues.

1. Playlists - how do I get my playlists over to the XBMC
2. Album images - I know the xbmc can download images but I miss about 2/3 of my collection.  Right now I have images stored as ID tags and apparently that does not work.  Are there any other options that work?

XBMC now supports UPnP  ;D http://www.xbmc.xbox-scene.com/wiki/index.php?title=UPnP_Sharing

i've tested it and it works with

* Windows Media Connect
* TwonkyVision
* TVersity

but unfortunatley not with MC..though i can't understand why  :(

..but go for a test  ;)

I have 3 xboxes in my house all accessing SMB shares on my main fileserver via XMBC.

Everything gets ripped to my FS's HDDs so that anyone in the house can watch movies, listen to music, look at photographs, etc.

I have even set up password protected sections so that the kids cannot get access to anything unsuitable.

All-in-all the xbox with XBMC is the most fantastic bit of kit I've bought in ages.
