Application Not Found?
« on: July 22, 2006, 06:53:15 pm »

When I try to download a skin I get the following message:

"c:\Documents and Settings\Main\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\content.IE5\CPIV8PQZ\785[1].mjp

Application not found"

Any ideas???

Is this with any particular skin, or just one?
Which browser are you using?
Which version of MC are you using?

Have you checked to see if the MJP file is in the location specified?
Lots of questions but it may help to identify where things are going wrong. :)

All skins result in the same error.

I'm using the latest version of IE6 and MC 11 on Windows XP Home.

I've tried 4 different skins and found their *.mjp files but under the "Temporary Internet Files" directory.  For example:

c:\Documents and Settings\Main\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\785.mjp

There are NO directories any deeper than "Temporary Internet Files".

Thanks for your help!

I tried the "Delete Files" as suggested.

It did not solve my problem.

I fixed it!  I compared a working installation on another computer to the computer I was having the problem with.

Turns out the file association for the MJP extension on the problem computer did not contain the directory of Media Center's PackageInstaller.exe file.

In other words, it did not contain the following complete command:
"C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 11\PackageInstaller.exe" /Install "%L"

It only read:
"C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 11\"

Maybe You Ran Something That Removed That From The Registry Or Blocked MC Install For Writing It?

Oh yes there are. Paste the address below into explorers address bar and hit the enter key..

c:\Documents and Settings\Main\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\content.IE5\

have a nosey in your history folder too...

then try...

C:\Documents and Settings\main\Local Settings\history\History.IE5\

These are among the hidden folders that those "Erase your internet tracks" programs 'clean up' for you as they contain a complete picture of your internet usage.
Depending on your internet usage, (Paul Gadd?) they're not really 'bad' things as such, but you should at least be aware of their existance and purpose.
google for content.ie5 if you want to learn more...
