iPod not working in build 76
« on: September 23, 2006, 05:01:32 am »

12.0.76 won't recognise my Ipod Video.
I synced it a couple of days ago, I was probably using 12.0.74 at the time.

Did you confirm that the system itself is seeing the iPod (i.e. is it showing up on the system, but just not in MC)?

If so, you could try reverting back to .75 and/or .74 and seeing if it became visible to MC again.  If it does, this would narrow the problem down to .76.  I know that there have been several "iPod recognition" fixes recently, so maybe something got messed up with MC recognizing the 5G iPod.

I've reverted back to build 73 and it still doesn't work.
I did a complete resync on it the other day using build 74 or 75 after updating it's firmware with ITunes 7.

Now I can't get it recognised at all allthough it is still working under MC11.
Is it possible that i've ignored it somehow?

You mean that it doesn't work with versions of MC12 that it USED to work with, and that it DOES still work with MC11?  Also, you're saying that M12 DID recognize it AFTER you updated the firmware, correct?

What happens when you plug it in?  Does MC12 act like it's just not plugged in?  Were there any other changes that took place AFTER you updated the firmware and synched it with MC12 build 74 -- i.e. between the time it did work with MC12 and now?  Was the only change you can think of the update to MC12 build 76?

Yes that's exactly right

Nothing happens, it's as if it's not plugged in. As far as  can see nothing changed, I synced it up like I said then didn't use it again until I saw that build 76 had gapless support. that's when I found that it wasn't being recognised.

Well I've had to reinstall ITunes and restore my Ipod to factory defaults to get MC12 to recognise it but all along MC11 was working ok. So something is amiss somewhere.

Craig,

Is it possible the iPod was 'Removed & Ignored'? In which case you would have to run 'Redetect All Devices...' from handheld options.

If you have 12.0.79 (released soon) could you send us your system information from the help menu.

What build of 11.1 are you running?

When you say you re-installed iTunes - what version of iTunes did you re-install?

This is possible but I tried  'Redetect All Devices' repeatedly to no effect.

This is from 12.0.78 I can update it later when 12.0.79 is available

What build of 11.1 are you running?
The latest at the time 11.1.199 or 200

When you say you re-installed iTunes - what version of iTunes did you re-install?
The latest 7.0.0.70 - but it wasn't installing iTunes that fixed the problem it was using the 'Restore to Defaults' function that made MC12 recognise it again,
