How do you get pane tagging to work right?
« on: September 23, 2006, 03:30:27 pm »

Somtimes the little tick boxes show up, but most of the times they do not.

Is anyone else noticing this?

Forgive me if you've already considered this, but are you sure have something highlighted in the "Track" pane when you want to use Tagging mode?  The little check boxes used in Tagging mode only appear if one or more tracks are highlighted in the Track pane. If no tracks are highlighted, the little check boxes do not appear.

been seeing this here too on and off since build 60-ish.
I mentioned it here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=35470.0
and only received one response, from RobOK (thanks).

I still see it, and still can't reproduce at will. If it was turning off tagging mode, the 'greyed-out' tick boxes should still display, but don't.

This really really needs to be looked at.  I have a scenario there is one file and onely one file (mp3) in a list, when highlited simply won't cause the check boxes to show up in the panes...

If I highlite an entire list selection, it doesn't bring up the check boxes.  Only if I partially highlite the does it come up.

Dingin, ding, ding, there are 2 specific problems identified, hopefully with a fix coming soon

One other really annoying thing that has always been there with the tagging mode is when you click on a pane header 'All', it doesn't make the check boxes go away, only when you select a specific itme from the list, does this happen.

I can't reproduce this.  Could you provide a step-by-step?  Thanks.

I've still not been able to produce this at will.
I've not personally seen the "One other really annoying thing"... yet
I still occasionally get no tagging tickboxes when selecting files in the list, clicking refresh always brings them out of hiding.
I've only ever encountered this when tagging images, which means a view scheme containing about 12 panes, and a file list in thumbnail mode.

One thing I have noticed is that when a viewscheme gets up there, mostly with 12 panes or more, screen drawing becomes rather fragile, with occasionally, no tagging tickboxes, and quite often, the first and sometimes the second, panes not drawing, leaving a "hole" in the viewscheme where you can see the remainder of the previous view. The panes always finish drawing after a file is selected.

Sure.

In the Pane Audio All view, select a file in the bottom list to make the check boxes appear (without making a selection in the panes first), then select the top 'All(#)' selection in one of  the panes above (any of them), and the check boxes remain.

The only way to remove the check boxes is to either click into another view and hit the back button or select an individual item in one of the panes.

The reason I do not like this is that the check boxes get in the way of reading the panes for browsing, and having to actually select an individual item in a pane just to simply to remove the check boxes is not good from a 'when does this happen/not happen' kind of usablity standpoint.

On a side note, I am noticing that when MC updates/refreshes the library view after making a selection in a pane, this can take an unusually long time to update like 2 - 4 seconds.:o
