« on: September 25, 2006, 10:44:57 am »

i use lyrics editor and lyrics finder plugins but the lyrics are not saved in the id3v2 tag. i have checked the "update tag when file info changes" and the lyrics are still not saved in the mp3.

Do you have the "Store in file tags (when possible)" option selected in the field specific options?

Tools > Options > Library > Library Fields: Lyrics > "Edit" button...

You need to do update the file tags for your old files:
Select the files > Right-click > Library Tools > Update Tags (from library)

With MP3 files MC uses the ID3v2.3 frame "USLT - Unsychronised lyrics/text transcription".

From: www.id3.org/id3v2.3.0.txt
Quote
4.9.   Unsychronised lyrics/text transcription

This frame contains the lyrics of the song or a text transcription of
other vocal activities. The head includes an encoding descriptor and
a content descriptor. The body consists of the actual text. The
'Content descriptor' is a terminated string. If no descriptor is
entered, 'Content descriptor' is $00 (00) only. Newline characters
are allowed in the text. There may be more than one 'Unsynchronised
lyrics/text transcription' frame in each tag, but only one with the
   same language and content descriptor.

     <Header for 'Unsynchronised lyrics/text transcription', ID: "USLT">
     Text encoding        $xx
     Language             $xx xx xx
     Content descriptor   <text string according to encoding> $00 (00)
     Lyrics/text          <full text string according to encoding>

You can verify the actual file tags in Action Window > File Properties > File Type Info

What are you using to look at the tag info?  In other words, how are you determining that the lyrics are 'missing'.  Since you didn't give any detailed info, just trying to make sure you are looking for the problem in the right place.

Using ID3-TagIT, I can see the lyrics in my files.  There is also a 'Lyrics/Text Writer' tag - are you sure you are looking at the right tag?

i use: Tag&Rename that has full native support for: mp3 (ID3v1, ID3v2.2, ID3v2.3 and ID3v2.4 tags)

You need to do update the file tags for your old files:
Select the files > Right-click > Library Tools > Update Tags (from library)

i did this and the id3 tag is updated! thank you!
i wonder if there is a more automated process for the update.

That was for your old files. Later on when you add new lyrics MC will keep the file tags synchronized since you have now ebabled tag writing in the field options.
