Favorites Navigation?
« on: September 28, 2006, 05:37:34 am »

Did I miss it? Or is the "Playlist-Navigation-Add To Favorites" function gone again?

Couldn't you just add the "Add To Favorites" to the "Send To" list of targets?

It's under View - Navigation - Add to Favorites. If you're trying to add a playlist, I just selected the playlist and clicked the above items and it was added to favorites. But you certainly have a good suggestion to add it to the Send To menu.

It certainly is different from MC11

We recommend adding the "Favorites" toolbar button if you use these often.  Then you have quick access to your favorites and also a quick way to add a favorite.  (right click the header and pick customize)

With MC11, however, it was very intuitive to have the abiltiy to add a tree item to favorites by right clicking directly on the item you wanted to add, then selecting Navigation > Add to favorites.  To go to the View toolbar menu or the "Navigation" dropdown is, in my opinion, not quite as intuitive.  It's certainly not that big of a deal, but I always though it made sense to have the option in the right click menu since that is the first place I naturally look for this type of function.

Thanks,

Larry

I would have to agree. Menu option is ok. Right Click option is just better.

to my mind, there's no point in using the favourites system if you're not going to use the toolbar button. I never use the view > navigation menu.

How we access favourites in MC12 is not an issue for me at all. I have other issues with the system that I'd love to see addressed in v12...

Things like:
  • the awfully clunky "organise favourites" system
  • the lack of folders, or if you prefer, groups of favourites
  • the inclusion of the favourites list in library backups
  • the ability for MC to carry the favourites list from one major build to another.

did I miss any?
:)

I agree.  I use a toolbar button for Navigation/Favorites, but I still find it more conducive to add items to this list via a right click option.

Marko,
you are adding a lot of good stuff to the initial discussion. You do not use the right click, other people do. All the other items mentioned could add good value.
I especially like the idea of adding all these things to the backup and restore function.
