Is there any way to use something else than Quicktime for m4a playback??
It works kinda fine in MC but if anything else happens on the computer that eats up CPU then the playback start to be crackly in MC.

Please make something to disable quicktime

If you have other filters that can handle m4a playback, you should be able to configure which filters MC uses via Tools --> Options --> Playback --> DirectShow Playback Settings.  In the dialog that appears, select M4A in the DirectShow Filters list on the right, and click Select Filters.  From in there you can choose which filters to use to render the file during playback.

Actually I was just missing the right codec. Just downloaded 3ivx codec and out of the box MC uses it. Feels good to get rid of quicktime (at least for these files).

By default MC will try playing m4a files in DirectShow unless it can not find suitable filters. Quicktime is used as a fall-back.

If you have multiple decoder filters that would work on the same type of files, and you have a preference on which one to use, you should use the method that glynor suggested to choose one.
