Mouse movement problem
« on: October 13, 2006, 04:54:55 pm »

Guess what? Still there  ;D

When moving the mouse round the filelist (Playing now, Library etc.) the seeking bar, time display and the spectrum analyzer hangs. Sometimes, I'm not able to reproduce it for sure, it playback skips.

Hm, does anyone get the point or am I just the only one who has this issue?

I don't see a problem.  Anyone else?

This does not happen for me either.  Seems fishy.

Have you done a Spyware scan recently?  I'm thinking a keylogger/monitor type app could cause this type of effect...

What version are you running, I had a few similar probs with ver. 90 but they were gone/fixed with 91.

I’m using the actual Version MC 12.0.94. Problem is still there. I’m using no keylogger software and I’m quiet sure to have no spyware / virus installed (or catch), which could do this. I’m using the Logitech MouseWare Software 9.79. Maybe its my graphic engine… but I think it should be good enough for MC. It’s a nVidia onboard Graphic.

I tried to kill all not necessary background tasks (incl. Logitech mouse software, AntiVirus etc.), did a reboot, completely uninstalled/reboot/installed MC 12, uninstalled all 3rd party plugins , but problem stays.

I’ll try to bring it to the point again, perhaps anyone can reproduce this.

The progress bar and the timer hang

1. When moving the mouse in the filelist.
Reproduce:
a) have an audio file playing, spectrum analyzer is off and start making  fast movements at the filelist with your mouse (without clicking anything, just hover). If it’s not a thing just on my machine, you should see the progress bar and the timer stop working from time to time after ~5 sec.
a) have an audio file playing and spectrum analyzer on and start making even normal movements at the filelist with your mouse (without clicking anything, just hover). You should see the the spectrum analyzer progress bar and the timer stop working from time to time after ~5 sec.

2. When MC is doing a “big” job. If during such a job the next track is going to be started, MC starts to skip the sound I think until it has prebuffered the next file.
Reproduce: Restart MC. Go to “Tag” in AW. Put at least two files in Playing Now. Hit play and go to the last 15 seconds of the song. Hit “Playlist” in the Tag window. You should see the progress bar and the timer stop working from time to time AND the music starts to skip. (I tried this with several playback setting and mp3-files. Always the same.)

No, everything is fine for me.  I'm using the latest (now MC v.93) with Windows XP (latest with 2 zillion security patches)

Possible my PC is to slow? I've got one with 1,8 GHz PIV, 768 MB SD-Ram, Onboard Sound (CMI 8738), nVidia GeForce3 Ti 200 (it' not onboard though I first said it is). I thought this should be fast enough ?  :'(

I just got a new PC. And now I'm using Windows Vista. And I'm still able to reproduce it. Nothing hangs anymore for me, but if I'm moving the mouse around in a MC filelist MC uses up to 40% ( :o ) of my CPU power. On my old machine it had to hang, I just had 1,8 Ghz! And now it still uses up to 40% of my dual core CPU.

Please install the latest build from the top of this board.

This isn't a common problem.
