Durations in MC have wrong values and some are empty
« on: October 18, 2006, 06:26:07 pm »

I have a bunch of records in MC that have an empty Duration Field, and some of them are just plain wrong.
When I Analyze Audio on these records, the duration field is not automatically filled.

Is there a way to get MC to fill these fields in again to the correct value?

What format are the files?  MC may not be able to get the duration.

The analyzer does not update any file info.

Have you tried the "Update Library (from tags)" tool? It re-reads the format info. If the files don't contain tags that may change some of the library field info too. (Try it first with a test wave file.)

thats not going to help, if the duration in the library is already wrong and tags have been updated from Library, updating the library from tags wont  make a difference.

Surley Analyze Audio should determine Duration??!?!?

Have you tried it?  You might be surprised.  AFAIK, 'duration' is not stored in the file - it is calculated from the file's content.  At least I don't see 'duration' in the id3v2 native tags list.

UpDate Library From Tags Also Will Re-Read Some Of The Media Type Info Like Duration.

I had The Same Problem A Few Times And It Does Work Most Of The Tiime.

I suspect that something has corrupted one of the database files. As said, "Update Library (from tags)" is not limited to tag fields. It reads also things like duration, bitrate, compression format etc.

The analyzer is not designed to re-read info. It scans files for replay gain related values and BPM.

Yes, it works, the track name of all the wav files have been overwritten by the filename but this is another issue easly fixed..
