I'm a keyboard person, using the mouse only when necessary. I'm hoping MC12 can more fully support keyboard actions, and be more consistent in how tags editing behaves in the tags form vs. the view grid.
Mostly I can edit tags without the mouse. I can tab through the fields of the tags form, and type in or select from lists of values.
However, when a field allows multiple values -- specifically the Keywords field -- the keyboard isn't effective and I must reach for the mouse. Also, the tags form behaves differently than editing tags in the view's grid. (As of MC 12.0.139)
In the tags form, Keywords field, I can jump to a value by typing its first letter, but that seems to be the limit of keyboard navigation. The cursor keys don't let me scroll up/down the list of values. I haven't found any key that will let me select the current value; I must reach for the mouse and carefully position the pointer over the checkbox, then click. Then, after I make a selection the list doesn't close unless I click on a different field, but it covers up the other fields so I have to click the close button first (or tab to another field).
There's a lot of hand movement required to work with the Keywords field (the most valuable field for my music cataloging and smartlists). It really disrupts the rhythm of editing lots of tags. I think this can be improved by adopting UI behaviors I think are common in other apps.
Please consider these changes for MC12:
+ allow scrolling via Cursor keys through the Keywords list.
+ allow selection/deselection of a keyword via keyboard, ideally by toggling with the Spacebar.
+ close a field's values list once selections are made, perhaps identified by pressing Enter, as is allowed when editing fields in the view's grid.
